Official launch of Windows 7 on 22 Oct 09. Upgradation method from Vista and XP

windows 7 The prestigious operating system Windows 7 will be launched on 22 Oct 09. Microsoft has already terminated the free trial  download. Unlike Vista the new operating system is feature full and more user friendly.  Here some points on upgradation to Windows 7 from Vista and XP

  • If you want to install Windows 7 but do not want to lose your personal settings in Vista, then you have to do direct in-line upgradation.
  • From Windows XP, no direct inline upgradation to Windows 7. By using windows” easy file transfer ” utility XP users can migrate the personnel settings  like User accounts, Files and folders ,Program data files and settings ,E-mail messages, settings, and contacts,Photos, music, and videos,Windows settings Internet settings.   • No direct in-line upgrade from a 32-bit Vista version to a 64-bit Windows 7 version. For doing the same a fresh clean installation is required.
  • If you are using Vista Home Premium and purchased  the “upgrade copy for Windows 7 Professional” , then you have to go for a clean installation. Direct in-line upgradation is not possible.
  • Inline upgradation will migrate the user’s data along with the  existing applications  to the new operating system.
  • Minimum 16 GB free space is required for clean installation and 9 GB for inline upgradation
