While his first visit to India as the CEO of Google, Sunder Pichai faced a funny question from the students of Lady Sriram Collage of Commerce that whether the next version of Google Android can be named after an Indian sweet. He was impressed on that suggestion and assured that an online poll to name the Android new version can also be
considered. Few suggestions were also came out at that time such as Neyyappam, Nanghatai, Nolen gurer sandesh etc. After rolling out of the Marshmallow update now the time comes to finalize a name. For that Google put a page to suggest names for the coming Android version 7.0 and promoting the same with a hash tag #NameAndroidN.
A promotional video posted on the Android official YouTube channel shows the scenes at Professional Naming. In that video the only featured Indian sweet is “Neyyappam”.
What is Neyyappam?
Neyyappam is a traditional sweet of Kerala (An Indian state) which is prepared with Ghee, Rice and Jaggery. If you really like to have the taste of Neyyappam, few good recipes are available online to try. (http://www.spicykitchen.net/recipe/neyyappam/)
