Mobile Number Portability Complaints-TRAI to intervene

After crossing different deadlines Mobile Number Portability came into a reality on 20 Jan 2011 across all Telecom circles of India. Statistics says around 17 Lakh customers have availed this facility  since the launch. Customers are facing several problems in connection with MNP. Service providers are deliberately delaying the porting requests and rejecting the applications. Here some reported issues with MNP.

1. Problems in getting Unique Porting Code: This is the preliminary requirement for MNP. When a customer send porting request SMS in prescribed format to 1900, the UPC to be delivered immediately as reply SMS from 1901, it’s an automatic process. Unfortunately people often are getting this type of messages “Sorry customer please try after some time”, ” Your request is invalid”, “Dear customer please wait for some time”, “Your request can not be processed”, “Try to contact customer care ” etc.

2. Applications not getting processed: As per the guidelines the whole porting process should be completed within four days on receipt of application . It has been observed that the loosing operators are deliberately delaying the  application and not even responding to the queries.

3. Rejection of porting request : Mobile operators are quoting ridiculous reasons for rejecting the applications such as ” You are in a special plan so porting is not possible”, ” You are using life time validity plan so porting request cannot be processed” . As per the guidelines these are not the valid reasons to reject an application.

4. Problems with post paid customers : Even after clearing all outstanding bills the porting requests of customers are not getting processed.

5. Downtime more than 2 hours : This happened with me also. I got an SMS about the porting time ” Your Port in request for Mobile number xxxxxxxxx has been accepted and your mobile number will be ported on 09 Feb  2011 at 00:53 AM “  Now the time is 0800, 09 Feb 11. Number is blocked and not able do outgoing/ incoming calls (The porting request application was submitted on 02 Feb 2011 with all required documents)

TRAI is monitoring  the whole MNP process and attending complaints. They warned the service providers against  deliberate delays and non complains of regulations. Let’s consider these glitches as the teething problems and hope the authorities will take strict actions against defaulters.

I want to port out of Airtel , was told that it will be done by 15th May 2012, today when i am trying to figure out what has happened with airtle customer care .. they do not have an answer and they are telling me as this no. is part of CUG may be thats why.. this is frustrating since morning 9 am today i am on call with them even visited there cistomer care at Kammanahalli… and when i placed the request on 9th May they told me that everything is fine and it will be changed today ……Any one knows the way forward ???

I wanna port out from vodafone to other network I’M facing network problem in kolar district, tat too even in town and even now-a-days there is no best offers for existing customer. I was using vodafone from past 5years. I felt bad with vodafone service, I raised thrice complaint on network problem, there was +ve response from CC and they will give all complaint number and all, but no solution to the problem till-date.
So I planning to port out my number and even all relatives numbers too, but I not receiving unique porting code now-a-days from vodafone I don’t why…??
I’M following all procedure correctly to best of my knowledge
1) I sent sms as port 9742023247 to 1900, I’M not receiving any response from 1901 now, but earlier twice I followed same sms procedure I got the unique porting code(upc). But now I’M not getting upc from 1900. If anyone please give some solution to fix the problem (to port out my number) please……..

I am trying to quit idea net work for which I got Unique Port ID on 14th Feb 2012. my request was rejected, again port Id was generated on 29th Feb 2012 but in vain. Again it was generated in the month of March and also in April2012.

My number is 9899256219
why Idea is deliberately delaying M N 42H5P for more than three months.

(Regarding my # 9482133693)

This mail is to inform that as per your advice, I have visited Kormangala Vodafone Store yesterday. And your executives are not ready to collect my document. Kindly update my issue to the store executive and i may submit the document at the earliest.
This is really frustrating. And I dont have sufficient time to often visit the store, and you are not ready to send your executive to collect the document. Kindly update the same on my mobile record so that I can visit the store to activate my number, I’m using this number since last 5years. I dont want my number to get deactivated because of your technical mistake.
Your Vodafone store executives are really helpless.

Kindly take this mail in serious and help me out to get my number back.

This mail is to inform you that, still my number is not activated. I also received your mail stating that you could not able to contact me on my alternate number, As per your mail I have sent you my alternate number #9620059886. And, I personally visited Kormangala Vodafone store today at 11.30am to submit the document and the Executive is not ready to accept my document. I explained him the situation but he is not ready to respond me.

So I’m sending you this mail to update you that this number was used by me since last 5years. And, Its very upsetting by your technical mistake I’m suffering. I need you to do something to get this number back. I have already send you the address of my residence to collect the document and you can call me anytime to my alternate number mentioned above.

Please understand my situation and do the needful.

Hi sir/medam iam using airtel no from last 5 months.because of airtel poor network i want to port out from airtel and join to bsnl network . I received 3 times upc code from airtel in last 40 days. My last 2 upc codes are rejected by airtel without any reason and third upc code is iam submit at bsnl 1 week ago . Iam going both airtel and bsnl office they are complaining each other what will i do airtel call centres are not giving any response they are transfer my call to seniours. they hold my call every time . Airtel making fools to custumer and flirting them too much . Sir please help me my no is 9949057458 upc code aa467265 valid upto 12 july 2012. Iam waiting for result thank you.

I got an SMS about the porting time ” Your Port in request for Mobile number xxxxxxxxx has been accepted and your mobile number will be ported on 09 July 2012 at 22:39 “ Now the time is 12:40 , 10 July 2012 . Number is blocked and not able do outgoing/ incoming calls.

Regarding # 9482133693.

Dear BSNL.

I ported above number to Vodafone on 12th of february 2012 and I paid my bill on time. On 15 may 12, Vodafone Deactivated my number due to internal problem and the number sent back to you.

I’m using this number from past 5 years and it is updated on all my documents. I requested Vodafone to re-activate my number and they informed me to collect the number which they sent back to you.

I need my number with any cost. Again I’ll never port my number to any network.
Kindly do the needful and help me get my number back.

Dear Sir,
Recently, I have opted to take vodafone post paid mobile service by
migrating from BSNL keeping the same number 9433579344.
Fromyesterday morning my SIM has been completely deactivated with a
message “SIM not provisioned:2″.
I have contacted your customer care by dialling 9830098300 and I was assured
that the SIM will be activated by yesterday night(09/09/2012). However, till
now this has not been activated and showing the same message. Today I
contacted your vodafone shop at southcity mall and shown the receipt of the
payment of my last bill of BSNL. I was assured that it will be activated
shortly. But, the problem remains the same.For your kind perusal copy of the
BSNL bill payment receipt is attached.

I am really facing a lot of difficulties due to deactivation of my SIM.
Please do the needful at your earliest to settle the issue with the BSNL and
activate my mobile number.

I submitted application for PORTING my BSNL NUMBER 880110377 into AIRTEL on SEPTEMBER 3RD 2012… The reason is where I work now there is problem with BSNL coverage… I don`t hate them..
AIRTEL sent their sms that they have processed the porting..
The sim given by AIRTEL shows network signal too.. their executive said that first the BSNL should deactivate the number..

But BSNL has not deactivated my number and the old sim is working much to my displeasure and I cannot use the AIRTEL sim card till the BSNL deactivates the number.
I want to tell the BSNL that I have 2 other connections used by us and accepting the need for deactivation of 880110377 is quite right..

This is requeast to that I have to port out my number in my previous
Operetor vodafone .. I had junreat many time my port code but this is all time rejcted by my current operetor airtel ….
I don’t want use airtel services this is very froad company and I have ti change my current operetor by the side of airtel rejection resoen is that your nunber is not old that 90 days but I think that this is old 9 month ….
So this is my requeast plz resolve my problem

Dear Sir / Mam,

I am using Idea Cellular Service from last more 18 months & i have taken 1 Additional Idea connection for my Wife. I was not satisfied with the services of Idea so i decided to opt for Mobile Number Portability. Recently one of the Airtel Agency from Naraina, New Delhi had contacted me for Mobile Number Portability Service.

I have done with all the formalities required on 18th Sep 2012. But surprisingly they have converted only 1 Number on 25th Sep which belongs to my wife but i am still awaiting for my connection to be converted to Airtel. When i spoke to the concerned person of the Agency he assured me it will be done in a day or two. Now its more than 10 days & they are not answering to my calls anymore. All the verification process have been done & all the formalities were positive, so why they are not converting my number ???

The name of the concerned person is Mr. Chander & his mobile number is +917503061101. I had tried calling him several times but he is not responding to my calls.

Kindly help me in this matter.

I am a customer of airtel with prepaid connection no. 9601474843 from Ahmedebad but now I want to move to other service provider. For this I applied for portability on 1.10.2012 (Unique Porting ID AG945512) and I had submitted all my documents of the new service provider. And I was told that it will be ported within 7 days of time. Meanwhile I received a call from airtel company and I told them the reasons and informed them not to call me again on this matter. I waited for 10 days but no action had been taken.
I applied for portability again on 19.10.2012 (Unique Porting ID AG178896) and STILL NOT DONE.
I wonder why the hell do the customer care people call every time I apply for protability, IF THEY DON’T UNDERSTAND THE BASIC THINGS. I REQUEST THE HIGHER AUTHORITIRES OF AIRTEL TO TRAIN THEM TO LISTEN TO THE REQUIREMENT OF THE COSTOMERS AND TAKE NECESSARY ACTIONS ACCORDINGLY. This is really fooling the customer.
I APPLIED FOR PORTABILITY THE THIRD TIME ON 04.11.2011 (UNIQUE PORTING ID AG286883)
Are they testing the level of patience of the customers…….

Hello sir this is suresh from Gadag my nmuber 9743660088 ihis is aircel nmuber sir but now in gadag aircel net work will shotdown so i call to aircel customar care used my idea number 7353873744 they told in gadag our nitwork will close so you have to port out so i ask UPC CODE 9743660088 on this number so they fold we will send a sms or wel call and give you UPC code they saying from 01/12/2013 th but still i did not get any UPC code

so kindly request you sir what can i do and How to get a UPC Code pls reply me

Dear Sir,

I have been using a Reliance number 09555305415 from last 1 year. I tried to port it from Reliance to IDEA, I apply for porting around Nov 17th but it didn’t get ported and I continued with Reliance service. On dec22 I again applied for porting it to IDEA. This time my number got deactivated on 31st dec 2012 from Reliance and it didn’t got activated till dated neither from IDEA nor from Reliance. Now when I visited IDEA show room they said the porting request got rejected and the rejection issue was ‘wp’ which neither idea people could understand nor I. and when I call reliance customer care it says they don’t have any details about this number.

So since last 21 days I am facing a lot of problem and losing a lot of business because of this. Kindly help me out to get me my number back
