Microsoft Starts Beta Testing Of Windows 7 Service Pack In July

June 24, 2010 | by techlineinfo.com

If you’re Windows user then you surely know that Microsoft releases service packs for their operating system in order to fix the security issues. Microsoft is famous because of their service packs that include collection of all previous patches and fixes that have been released. Since service packs include all previous patches as a single installation it’s much easier and faster to install entire service pack than individual patches, and now we’re expecting to see the first service pack for Windows 7.

At the moment, Microsoft is making preparations for beta testing of the new service pack for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. As we find out beta testing should begin in July and according to the invites, it should be available in several languages such as English, German, Japanese, French and Spanish. As for release date of the service pack rumors say that it will be released in the last quarter of 2010.

Microsoft isn’t putting much effort in the new features and new service pack for Windows 7 will include just previous fixes and patches. On the other hand, we should see two new features for Windows Server 2008 R2 such as new graphic accelerated platform known as RemoteFX. In addition, we should see some changes to the Hyper-V that will dynamically adjust the amount of memory of a guest virtual machine.

Sadly, not anyone can sign up for the free beta testing of new service pack. All beta testers will report bugs and all other errors that may occur. As for the developers, it seems that Microsoft is especially interested in installation and in compatibility issues of different devices and software. In order to get the best feedback from the beta testers Microsoft will set a newsgroup so that users can exchange their experience.
Too bad that we won’t see any new features for Windows 7 with this service pack but all previous patches and fixes will sure come in handy. Anyhow, we’re looking forward to the beta testing and to the official release.
