Everyone like to become the proud owner of a website or a blog. Here I’ll explain how to make a free web site with your own domain name. For this no technical skill or HTML knowledge is required.
A number of web hosting companies offer web space with a bundle of other applications 100% free of cost (through this they will get a kind of advertisement and even 25% people transfer from free to payed plans then also it is a profitable business)
First of all you have to find out a good free hosting space provider. Google it or here I am placing the links of two hosting companies (tested and performance is satisfactory).
Both these companies are offering free web hosting account with sufficient web space, bandwidth, control panel and a bundle of applications like fantastico , site builder etc.
Create an account on any one of the above mentioned hosting providers(read carefully their terms and conditions). Now you have one free website named like this
yourname.xtreemhost.com or yourname.x10host.com
These names are not looking good and not easy to remember also. For .com, .info,.in …etc type domain name your have to pay some bucks. Don’t worry now we don’t need that. Is “yourname.tk or yourname.co.nr” looking nice? .tk and .co.nr are country code Top Level Domains (ccTLD) of Tokelau (a territory of NewZealand ) and Nauru respectively. OK leave it. Select one amongst them and register with your favorite domain name(read the terms and conditions carefully). These two domains provides only domain name and a kind of URL masking. During the process of signing up they will ask the folder where your site is located. At that place you type the name of web space earlier you have created (ie http:// xtreemhost.com/yourname or http:// x10host.com/yourname). Yes now you got a web space and applications for your site.

Login to the control panel and using site builder software you can build your site very easily. Both the hosts provides fantastico, which is a one click installation utility of various content management systems like Joomla, Drupal, PHP Nuke , WordPress , PHPBB, SMF…etc.
Note: co.nr domain required a link back from your site to their site. If your site is not active for 20 days then your .tk domain will be de activated. Read the terms and conditions of hosts and domain providers.
Once you familiarized with Cpanel, fantastico, wordpress, Jommla, Drupal etc then you can go for a paid one. Nowadays the payed hosting plans are also very cheap. This domain is hosted with B4Uindia.com. One of the cheap and best hosting service in India. They provide excellent customer support. All my queries sorted out within no time. Click here for details.

These days most freehosts come with some kind of facility to let you use basic php and server controls. I haven’t found any that give you a free mysql database though yet.

Thanks for the info, I found in some experience that freehosting is good as long as your site doesnt have many visitors because once you have some amount of visitors simultaniously free hosts dont provide that much bandwidth that they may state. I have been using 000webhost and 000space they both provide ok services for free, with the latter you get 99% uptime guarantee. Those who may want a free domain look at .co.cc a lot of the domains are free!

As usual Sujith, you share the useful info and tips.
I will try it again, even though at some free host, I got my account suspended/closed for more than once without any notice. So I never know what my mistake is.
[Reply]
that is quite magnificent, cheers for that great explanation
[Reply]
Well, I had used free web hosting services only once. That service have a requirement to achieve a certain amount of traffic within a specified time period. Because I can not get such traffic, then my account was closed. Then I never again take advantage of free web hosting services.

Another alternatives is use heliohost.org they are great with free cPanel and support ruby on rail, even support .NET.
You can visit co.cc for alternatives free domain with full dns support.

I am using some co.cc for free domain and it’s working really good.
[Reply]
Yeah right,
I have used co.cc for getting free domain and byethehost for free hosting. They work
[Reply]
that is very cool, i might consider doing it for my next website, however i am not too sure how well those types of websites would get indexed in the search engines.

This is a wonderful idea, but i thnk that 10 dollars for a domain and a few dollars a month for hosting is not a big sacrifice to make when you make an online business
[Reply]
Thanks for this. I’m going to be looking into these. I recently found your site and have been amazed at your wealth of information. Very helpful for a newbie like me.
[Reply]
I somewhat prefer to have my own domain (with .com or .net) however if you are a newbie, it is a easy way to get started with no out of pocket expense. Just read the stipulations of the hosting company carefully.

Thanks for the info. Free hosting isn’t ideal for some people, but I think it’s great to allow people to set up a website and get their feet wet.

nice post for developing new website, thankyou for giving this post

Great site man Thanks

I’ve heard about websites that offer free hosting before but what if they suddenly close down? Do they take responsibility for any damage? It’s a free hosting, would it be possible for them to suddenly disappear and leave you hanging?
