How to connect your mobile phone to browse internet in Ubuntu

by Sujith on 09/18/2009

If your mobile is subscribed with GPRS, EDGE or 3G service, the mobile can be connected to PC to surf internet. The mobile phone works as Modem. Here explaining the steps to configure Ubuntu 9.04 to connect the mobile phone to surf internet. There is no application software need to be downloaded. Here I’ve used Nokia phone to connect.

Step1

Connect the phone to the USB port of the computer with suitable data cable. Select the option “PC Suit” in mobile (For Nokia).

Step 2

In UbuntuĀ  go to System > Preferences > Network connections
