Caffeine: The new search indexing techinque from Google

June 9, 2010 | by techlineinfo.com

Today Google has announced the introduction of a new search indexing technique called Caffeine. The new search indexing algorithm claims to provide 50% fresh search result than the old search indexing system.

In the old system Google used to index the information as stacks   and the bottom portion of the stacks are getting updated slowly. Means to refresh the updates on the old index it use to take a considerable amount of time. Now with Caffeine, there is no stack concept – Indexing is a real time process. As Google find a new page or update on existing page, it will be added to the index directly on real time basis.

Google says

“Caffeine takes up nearly 100 million gigabytes of storage in one database and adds new information at a rate of hundreds of thousands of gigabytes per day. You would need 625,000 of the largest iPods to store that much information; if these were stacked end-to-end they would go for more than 40 miles”

Let’s see what Caffeine does and share your experience about this revolutionary search engine technology.
